Sean and I then used the weekend to be productive and are now master electricians after changing out light fixtures in his room. In between our productivity we finally got in our bungy jump that I won when I first got back. True to my promise, since we both finally had jobs (and the weather was actually nice) we went for the bungy.
Oddly enough walking up got me more excited because the water looked so inviting. It definitely helped it was a gorgeous day. I started to get anxious a bit right before, but I had no problem running off the platform (despite how ungraceful it looked). It actually wasn't near as bad as I expected and actually found it quite underwhelming. Its probably one of the shortest jumps in NZ at 40m, but its still a jump. Since Sean doesn't know how to do anything the normal way, he decided to backflip off the platform. He said it was a lot scarier than he actually expected, but he made it look good. You actually get to dip in the water a bit when you hit the bottom, so he did but I was just shy of the water. It was so weird coming home and going back to our chores. It felt like it should have been some grandiose day.
The bridge we jumped off. We jump near the middle, where the arch is.
I jumped!
I assume this is meant to save us if anything goes wrong. Shows a bit how high up we were and this is before the massive staircase we climbed.
View of the city from the bridge. It was such a gorgeous day out!
My job is going really well. Its such a small company (there are 4 office staff) that I'm getting to have input on design (simple stuff, but they are taking my ideas). Three days into my start my boss's wife went into labor, so he has been gone for the past few weeks. It has slowed my training down a bit, so I'm eager to learn, but I'm without someone to really teach me. I have been trying to make the most out of it and its incredible how much I have learned just by walking around on the production floor. I'm really excited about where I can go with this job and feel luckier and luckier every day that I found this job. They just announced last week that one of the largest well known boat building companies in New Zealand is having a massive layoff. Marine companies are disappearing quickly, so I'm even more lucky.
I'm starting to pick up a bit more pace on my homework and can't wait until its finally done. I also have my first 11 v 11 womens soccer game this weekend. I think the team is going to end up at a level a bit lower than I want, but the people all seem really nice, so we will see how it goes.
Other than that I am planning a road trip for Easter weekend. We are going to be going around the Waikato region on a waterfall hunt. My list of places I want to travel to here keeps growing and I'm slowly checking them off. I really love how much there is to see and do in this country. Everyone come visit, you will be blown away at the beauty!
